Semi-continuous Parallel Pressure Reactor

Automated Platform for Parallel Synthesis and Polymerization Studies

Our Semi-continuous Parallel Pressure Reactor (ScPPR) is a full-function reactor for bulk, solution, and emulsion polymerizations. The ScPPR consists of three separate modules each with eight independent reactor cells. A total of eight liquid feeds can be introduced with independent control into each separate reactor using dedicated syringe pumps. Combined with our software features for both composition and process design, this reactor can dramatically accelerate your study of polymerization reactions.

By enabling higher throughput and providing controlled automation, the ScPPR reduces experimentation time and enhances experiment-to-experiment reproducibility. This platform extends the capabilities of a scientist and a research team to explore a far broader range of materials and process conditions than would be possible using conventional methods.

Prepare: Modularized for Flexibility in Experimentation

The ScPPR delivers flexibility and precision for your polyolefin research. Design and automation software work together to execute a recipe containing composition and process information. The software directs the syringe pumps to deliver materials to each reactor according to the user design. The feeding schedule for each reactor cell and syringe pump can be different and vary as a function of time. This allows you to introduce a shot addition of material (1 step where all material is added) or a slow feed over 8 hrs (hundreds of small additions of material) all depending on how the you design your experiment. The high pressure syringe pumps are capable of accurate and precise material dispense under pressure.

Process: Complete Automation for Faster Time to Result

  • Individual experiment control: Each 8-cell module has pressure, temperature, and stirring control allowing a diversity of reaction conditions to be explored simultaneously.
  • Reaction monitoring: Monitor the material added to each reactor as a function of time, pressure and temperature.
  • Reactor for Material Discovery: Variation in composition and process variables across the reactor can produce 24 unique reactions.
  • Screening reactor: Access broad range of process variables to determine optimum reaction conditions
  • Precise and complex material feed schedules: The ScPPR adds the capability of precise and complex material feed schedules across 24 individual reactors in a single experiment. When and how often each of the 8 sources is feed to each reactor cell can be different.
  • A nitrogen/argon headspace is maintained inside each module to enable air sensitive chemistry
  • Product from the ScPPR can be screened using the RapidGPC.

Test: Multi-dimensional Experimentation for Better Data Correlation

The ScPPR enables rapid analysis. Its ability to query data by parameters such as compound name, structure, and reaction conditions, provides a simple way to manage hundreds of experiments across a campaign. Data are stored in an applications database, which facilitates the sharing of experiments across internal and external laboratories.
