Core Module 3 Modular Automation Platform

For more than 15 years, Freeslate has been building high throughput research solutions for R&D. Our new flagship product line is our Core Module 3 (CM3), a configurable automation system for preparing, processing, and testing chemically complex samples and mixtures.

Increased Flexibility, Functionality and Reliability

The third-generation CM3 platform enables scientists to leverage a single instrument to run an array of applications. Its standard base platform couples with many arm and deck elements that can dispense materials, mix, control temperature, and carry out analytical measurements.

With the CM3, one platform can serve very diverse applications; for example, large molecule drug stability testing, catalytic transformations of organic and performance testing of consumer products, to name a few.

Accelerate Your Scientific Discovery

The CM3 is designed to optimize scientific workflow integration and can streamline how applications are run, ultimately optimizing efficiency, reducing R&D costs, and accelerating scientific discovery.

This highly flexible system provides:

  • Easy integration with both Freeslate and third-party instruments.
  • Configurability allowing redeployment of an instrument based on your needs.
  • Flexibility for automating multiple assays on one instrument.
  • Higher quality experimentation.

Core Module 3 Key Features

The CM3 is designed for flexibility in handling workflow integration:

  • Robotic arms that can interface with a variety of off-deck laboratory and automation equipment.
  • Flexible dispensing arm element with four options for solid and viscous materials dispensing, including heated liquid dispensing.
  • Sample handling arm element capable of gripping both vials and plates.
  • Liquid handling arm element for 1, 2, 4 or 6 channel dispensing and configurable for five commonly used pitches.
  • Heating and mixing deck element with an independent heating control, a magnetic stirring element, and separate temperature controls.
  • Analytical balance deck element with options for two balances that enable either dispensing into plate-based arrays or individual vials. Each balance element includes an integrated digital camera for sample visual inspection.
  • Vial capping and decapping station for screw-top vials and jars.
  • pH measurement probe with 0-14ph range with a resolution of 0.01 pH.
  • Overhead mixer for blending viscous formulations.
  • Wash station with liquid dispensing and pH probe including a bar code reader for plates and vials.
  • Extended work surface for up to eight additional units of deck space.

The CM3 also introduces an exciting new powder dispensing capability we call the Storage Vial (or SV) technology. This system uses conventional storage vials and injection-molded valve caps as powder hoppers versus the traditional hoppers used on our Powdernium instruments. The smaller, disposable hoppers dispense much smaller volumes directly from their storage containers.
