John S. Senaldi

President and Chief Executive Officer

John S. Senaldi joined Freeslate as its President and Chief Executive Officer in February 2010 and had previously been the President of the HPR Division of Symyx Technologies. Prior to joining Symyx in 2009, he was division manager of Bio-Rad Laboratories' Protein Function Division. Mr. Senaldi brings over 15 years of general management, marketing and business development experience to Freeslate. Previously he was an executive officer at Molecular Devices Corporation. Earlier, Mr. Senaldi served in management positions at Becton Dickinson and Co. and General Electric Company, in the medical device, diagnostics and life sciences research industries. He holds an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and an MSEE from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Rick Rosenthal

Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer

Rick Rosenthal is the Chief Financial Officer of Freeslate and brings over 30 years of broad financial and management experience. Before joining Freeslate, Mr. Rosenthal was most recently Senior Vice President of Finance and Principal Accounting Officer of Symyx Technologies, a leader in enabling High Productivity Research supplying the life sciences, chemical, energy, and consumer industries. Prior to Symyx, he was employed by LSI Corporation, a manufacturer of communications and storage semiconductors, from 1997 until December 2007, with his last position being Vice President and Corporate Controller. Earlier, Mr. Rosenthal was with Raychem for 10 years as well as General Electric Company, and Gould. Mr. Rosenthal holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and a B.S. degree in Accounting from San Jose State University.

Jonah Troth

Senior Vice President, Operations

Jonah Troth joined Freeslate as the Senior Vice President of Operations in March 2010. Prior to joining Freeslate, Mr. Troth was the Senior Vice President of Operations for Symyx Technologies' High Productivity Research business unit, where he was responsible for the overall commercialization, production and implementation of high throughput R&D products and services. Mr. Troth joined Symyx in 1999, and during this time he held numerous positions including Director of Operations, Chemistry Group Leader and Customer Support Manager. Before joining Symyx, he worked for ArQule, performing small molecule synthesis for drug discovery. Mr. Troth brings over 15 years of experience in the laboratory automation industry for R&D, in both management and technical roles. Mr. Troth graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Biochemistry and Chemistry.

Eric Carlson, Ph.D.

Senior Vice President, Sales and Service

Dr. Eric Carlson is currently serving as Senior Vice President of Sales and Service for Freeslate, and brings long-term experience in Freeslate products, markets and customers to the role. Dr. Carlson joined Freeslate as Vice President of Marketing and Solution Development in March 2010. Before joining Freeslate, Dr. Carlson was part of Symyx Technologies, from mid-1998 until March 2010, most recently serving as Vice President of Life Science Technology for its HPR Division. During his time at Symyx, Dr. Carlson served in a number of additional roles including leading product management, product development, and the small molecule drug development services group. In these roles, he was involved in developing many of the platforms and integrated workflows that Symyx/Freeslate has deployed to its customers. Dr. Carlson received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering with a concentration in Biosciences from North Carolina State University in 1993. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University in 1994 and 1998, respectively. Dr. Carlson has authored 32 published patents and 9 publications in peer-reviewed journals; he has given numerous presentations at national conferences. He is also the lead author on a chapter on automation for stress testing studies in Pharmaceutical Stress Testing: Predicting Drug Degradation, 2nd Edition (Informa, 2011.)

Steve Crouse

Vice President, Marketing and Strategic Planning

Steve Crouse joined Freeslate as the Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Planning in April 2010, bringing with him 10 years of experience in the areas of marketing and business development. Before joining Freeslate, Mr. Crouse held several leadership roles with Bio-Rad Laboratories including the Manager of Strategic Partnerships for the Protein Function Division and the Business Unit Marketing Manager for the Bio-Plex business unit. In these roles he led strategic planning and product development teams, managed critical business partnerships, and ran operations for a new R&D Center in Shanghai, China. Prior to Bio-Rad, Mr. Crouse held business development management and R&D roles with Life Technologies (formerly Invitrogen) and Biosource International. He has a MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California and a M.S. in Biochemistry from Georgetown University.

Rakesh Jain, Ph.D.

Vice President, Asia & Strategic Alliances

Dr. Rakesh Jain joined Freeslate at its inception in March 2010. Previously he was Vice President of Alliances at Symyx Technologies in Sunnyvale, California. In this position he managed the overall relationship with ExxonMobil, Dow and Intermolecular — three large partnerships spanning the breadth of Symyx, including research services, IP licensing, workflow deployment, and software licensing and services. Dr. Jain joined Symyx in January of 1998 and was responsible for the development of high throughput methodologies for the discovery of organic materials. After the successful completion of this project, he started the Chemistry group within Symyx Discovery Tools and was responsible for the delivery of complex workflow systems to chemical and pharmaceutical companies. Along the way, Dr. Jain expanded his business skills in the role of Director of Technical Sales. Prior to joining Symyx Technologies, Dr. Jain worked at Eastman Kodak for 8 years where he led research projects targeted at the improvement of image stability in photographic color paper. Product lines containing formulations developed by him still represent a significant portion of the color paper offerings. Before that he undertook postdoctoral research with Professor Robert Grubbs, Nobel Laureate, at Caltech, and received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Caltech working with Professor Dennis Dougherty.

Desmond Win

Director, Finance

Desmond Win is the Director of Finance for Freeslate with over 10 years of experience in financial planning and analysis. Previously he was the Divisional Controller for Symyx Technologies' High Productivity Research business unit where he supported management in development of long range planning, and tracking profitability and return on investment. Prior to joining Symyx, he was a Senior Financial Analyst for SixApart, a technology start-up company in San Francisco. Mr. Win holds a B.S. degree in Finance from Santa Clara University.
